Brian Matthew Jordan is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of History at Sam Houston State University, specializing in the American Civil War, military history, and historical memory. He teaches courses on the Civil War and Reconstruction, U.S. history surveys, and historical methodology.

His research explores the human experiences of Civil War soldiers, the legacy of the conflict, and the challenges veterans faced post-war. He emphasizes the intersection of military history and cultural memory, particularly how battles and their aftermath shaped national identity.
