Brian Lewis is a Senior Fellow at the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy, University of Toronto, and also holds a Senior Fellowship at the C.D. Howe Institute. In addition to his research roles, he serves as a Sessional Lecturer in the Master of Public Policy and Undergraduate Public Policy Major programs at the Munk School.

Research & Teaching Focus
Lewis specializes in public finance, labour markets and macroeconomics. His teaching and policy work centre on equipping students and policymakers with rigorous analytical tools to understand fiscal dynamics, labour-market behaviour and macroeconomic performance.
Professional Leadership & Public Service
Before returning to academia, Lewis spent over a decade in senior roles within the Ontario Public Service. Highlights include:
- Chief Economist & Assistant Deputy Minister, Office of Economic Policy, Ontario Ministry of Finance (2015–2021)
- Inaugural Director, Strategy & Integration Branch, Prevention Office, Ontario Ministry of Labour (2012–2015)
Earlier in his career he taught economics at Wilfrid Laurier University, Brock University and the University of Alberta.
