معرفی
Assoc. Professor Brian Jones is a University Fellow at the University of Wollongong's School of Earth, Atmospheric and Life Sciences, specializing in clastic sedimentology and Quaternary geology. He has held this position since 2022 and is actively engaged in research, teaching, and supervision.
His educational background includes a PhD from the Australian National University. Research focuses on sediment dynamics, environmental geology, and paleoclimatology, with particular attention to fluvial, lacustrine, and coastal systems. Notable interests include Quaternary climate change, dust storm impacts, and archaeological geology.
Recent publications (2022–2025) highlight studies on dust storm tracking, sediment provenance in the South China Sea, Holocene delta evolution, and remote sensing applications for environmental monitoring. His work frequently integrates geochemical and geophysical methods.
Prof. Jones has supervised over 20 higher-degree research students, focusing on topics like coastal evolution, sediment contamination, and archaeological site formation. He has secured significant internal/external funding for projects on coastal reservoirs, geoarchaeology, and analytical equipment acquisition.
Key grants include the ARC-funded 'How green were our deserts?' (2010–2015) and multiple infrastructure grants for advanced microscopy and spectroscopy tools. His collaborative networks span Australia, Jordan, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia.
