Brian G. Sellers serves as Professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice in the Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Criminology at Eastern Michigan University.
He earned his Ph.D. from the University of South Florida in 2013.
Dr. Sellers employs interdisciplinary qualitative and quantitative methodologies grounded in critical social theory, with research spanning juvenile justice systems, restorative practices, and ethical-legal intersections. His work critically examines juvenile homicide, risk assessment protocols, school violence prevention, and psychology-law dynamics, as reflected in publications across leading journals. He co-authored The Ethics of Total Confinement: A Critique of Madness, Citizenship, and Social Justice and co-edited The Pre-Crime Society: Crime, Culture, and Control in the Ultramodern Age.
Dr. Sellers actively implements research through community partnerships with Friend of Restorative Justice (FORJ) and the Dispute Resolution Center (DRC), advancing restorative justice initiatives across Southeast Michigan.
