Brian Fuehrlein

Brian Fuehrlein is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Yale University and Director of the Psychiatric Emergency Room at the VA Connecticut Healthcare System. He holds an M.D./Ph.D. from the University of Florida (2008), completed adult psychiatry residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (2012), and an addiction psychiatry fellowship at Yale (2013).

His research focuses on addiction psychiatry, emergency psychiatric care, and substance use disorders, with notable work on opioid use disorder in emergency settings. He actively contributes to medical education, particularly in addiction psychiatry, and has received prestigious awards such as the Irma Bland Award for Excellence in Resident Teaching (2017) and induction into the American College of Psychiatrists (2019).
