Brian Christopher Glaser (born 1985, Woburn, MA) is an artist and educator serving as an Instructional Media Specialist in the Art Department and an instructor in the College of Advanced and Professional Studies at the University of Massachusetts Boston. He concurrently holds teaching positions at Bunker Hill Community College and serves as an adjunct professor of grant writing and arts administration at Stonehill College's Visual and Performing Arts Department.
His educational background includes:
- MFA in Sculpture, Massachusetts College of Art and Design, Boston (2009)
- BFA in Studio Art, Tulane University, New Orleans (2007)
Glaser's artistic research critically examines the collision of physical and virtual identities through sculpture and digital media collage. His practice queers idealized body imagery to interrogate cultural fantasies of selfhood, exploring themes of longing, emotional distance, and destructive impulses within contemporary visual culture. Primary research domains span Contemporary Art, Sculpture, Digital Media, Visual Culture, Queer Theory, and Art Administration.
As managing editor of the nonprofit arts journal Big Red & Shiny for five years, he has documented New England's fine arts practices through critical coverage while exhibiting his own work nationally at institutions including the Leslie-Lohman Museum of Gay and Lesbian Art (New York), 500X Gallery (Dallas), and the Boston Center for the Arts.
