Aaron McIntosh is an Associate Professor in the Department of Fibres & Material Practices at Concordia University. His work bridges material culture, family tradition, sexual desire, and identity politics through mediums like quilts, sculpture, collage, and writing. He is a fourth-generation quilt maker, leveraging this heritage to explore fragmented identities. Since 2015, he has directed the Invasive Queer Kudzu Project, a storytelling archive for LGBTQ+ communities in the Southern U.S.
McIntosh’s research includes the Hot House/Maison Chaude project, supported by a 2020–2023 SSHRC Insight Development Grant. His exhibitions span prestigious venues such as the Hangaram Art Museum (Seoul), Houston Museum of Fine Arts, and the Leslie-Lohman Museum of Gay & Lesbian Art (New York City).
