Brian Bowes

Brian Bowes is a Professor of Illustration at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) since 2018, holding a full-time position. He teaches illustration courses and collaborates with faculty to enhance student resources. His educational background includes an M.F.A. from the University of Hartford, a B.A. from California College of the Arts, and an A.A. from Santa Rosa Junior College.

His professional work spans commercial illustration, children's books, book design, and limited-edition fine art books such as The Story of the Fisherman, acquired by major institutions like Stanford University and the Library of Congress. He has taught at multiple institutions including Cabrillo College, Santa Cruz Mountains Art Center, and Academy of Art University, focusing on visual storytelling, art history, and foundational techniques.

Bowes has led workshops in urban sketching, children's book illustration, and traditional drawing, and served as Youth Education Director at Santa Cruz Mountains Art Center. He is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) and has spoken at institutions like UC Berkeley and Kendall College of Art and Design.
