Brian A. Lynch

Brian A. Lynch, M.D., is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Mayo Clinic, where he serves as a Consultant in the Division of Community Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine within the Department of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine. His clinical practice focuses on preventive care, obesity management, early childhood development, and developmental/autism screening for pediatric patients in Rochester, Minnesota.

Dr. Lynch earned his MD from the University of Iowa School of Medicine in 2001, completed his Pediatric Residency at the University of Minnesota in 2005, and obtained a Certificate in Clinical and Translational Science from Mayo Clinic. His research program investigates community-based approaches to promote early childhood development and prevent/treat childhood obesity, with particular focus on the impact of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) on obesity development and health outcomes.

His extensive publication record (over 40 peer-reviewed articles) demonstrates consistent research productivity, with recent work examining social determinants of health screening, weight trajectories in severe obesity, family structure effects on adolescent depression, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on early childhood development. His research primarily appears in journals focused on primary care, community health, and pediatrics.
