Brian A. Barsky is a Professor of the Graduate School at the University of California, Berkeley, with affiliations in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences (EECS), Optometry, Vision Science, Bioengineering, and multiple research centers. His roles include being an ACM Distinguished Speaker, Warren and Marjorie Minner Faculty Fellow, and recipient of the National Science Foundation Presidential Young Investigator Award. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Utah, along with degrees from McGill and Cornell Universities.
His research focuses on computational optometry, vision-correcting displays, and biomedical optics. Key innovations include Vision-Realistic Rendering and vision-correcting display technology, recognized by Scientific American as a 2014 'World Changing Idea.' His work spans computer graphics, medical imaging, and computational photography, with applications in contact lens design and surgical simulation.
