Research Interests focus on optimizing anesthesia techniques for improved patient outcomes. Past work includes restructuring anesthesia care to prioritize regional anesthesia, analyzing healthcare economics, and developing multimodal analgesia strategies. Current projects explore five-drug anti-emetic prophylaxis for intrathecal morphine use and opioid-sparing total intravenous anesthesia to avoid hyperalgesia. His lab at the PCPR (Pittsburgh Center for Pain Research) investigates pharmacoeconomic interactions between postoperative nausea and opioid escalation.
Scientific Awards include funding from the NIH/NIAMS, NIH/NIDA, and the Department of Defense. His grants support translational research on perineural analgesia and anti-emetic strategies in gravity-free environments.
