Brett Millar, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at RWJMS and Core Faculty at the Institute for Health, Health Care Policy, and Aging Research (IFH) at Rutgers University. His research focuses on the health and wellbeing of sexual and gender minority populations, particularly sleep health as it relates to discrimination, stigma, and health behaviors like substance use. He holds editorial roles at AIDS & Behavior and has secured funding from the National Institute of Aging (NIA), National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), and National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA).
His work addresses disparities in sleep health among marginalized groups and explores interventions to mitigate risk behaviors. Recent studies include behavioral interventions for sexual minority male couples and transgender women, emphasizing substance use reduction and HIV care outcomes. Brett’s research bridges clinical psychology, public health, and social epidemiology, contributing to evidence-based strategies for vulnerable populations.
