Brett Litz is Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Boston University School of Medicine and the Department of Psychological & Brain Sciences, where he directs the Mental Health Core of the Massachusetts Veterans Epidemiological Research and Information Center. His research examines trauma-related psychological injuries in military personnel and veterans.
Dr. Litz's work focuses on PTSD, moral injury, and traumatic loss, with emphasis on developing assessment instruments and psychotherapies like Adaptive Disclosure. His current projects include clinical trials of treatments for moral injury and studies on measurement-based care in military health systems.
His publications demonstrate consistent focus on trauma interventions, with recent articles examining military support systems, culturally responsive therapies, assessment tools, pain management in PTSD treatment, and conceptual frameworks for moral injury.
