معرفی
Brent Vernon is an Associate Professor and undergraduate program chair in biomedical engineering at Arizona State University (ASU), where he also directs the Center for Interventional Biomaterials. He holds affiliations with the School of Biological and Health Systems Engineering and the School of Life Sciences. His research focuses on polymer science and chemistry to design in situ gelling materials for drug delivery, tissue engineering, and vascular applications such as embolization.
Education: Ph.D. in Bioengineering from the University of Utah (1999).
Research Interests: Biomaterials development, hydrogels, temperature-responsive polymers, and their applications in medical devices and drug delivery systems. Notable projects include injectable hydrogels for endovascular embolization and antimicrobial hydrogels for surgical site infection prevention.
Key Grants: Includes NIH-funded studies on bioresponsive copolymers and NSF-supported materials research. Collaborations with institutions like Mayo Clinic and Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center.
Teaching: Courses include biomedical engineering capstone design, tissue engineering, and biomaterials. Active in mentoring undergraduate and graduate research projects.
Service: Referee for journals like Biomaterials and Advanced Materials; member of professional organizations including the Controlled Release Society and Biomedical Engineering Society.
