Dr. Pooya Davoodi is an Assistant Professor in Pharmaceutics at Keele University's School of Allied Health Professions and Pharmacy since August 2020. He holds a Ph.D. in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from the National University of Singapore (2016), followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at NUS and a research associate role at the University of Cambridge (2018).
His research focuses on biomaterials for drug delivery and tissue engineering, including polymeric systems, 3D bioprinting, electrospinning, and electrospraying. He has developed micro-patterned tissue constructs and injectable hydrogels for cartilage regeneration. Teaching responsibilities include courses on biopharmaceutics, solid-state pharmaceuticals, and ocular/otolaryngological drug delivery.
Key research areas include:
- Design of biocompatible polymeric materials for drug delivery
- 3D-printed tissue models for regenerative medicine
- Electrospun nanofibers for antibacterial applications
Recent publications emphasize injectable hydrogels, granular hydrogel systems, and shape-memory polymers. His work has been published in journals like Advances in Colloid and Interface Science, Polymers, and Nanomaterials.
Dr. Davoodi collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to advance biomaterials science and translational medicine. His lab contributes to developing innovative therapies for cartilage defects and skin regeneration.
