Brendan Shannon is an Associate Professor and Head of Postgraduate Programs in the Department of Paramedicine at Monash University. He is a registered paramedic and academic innovator focused on advancing paramedicine education and community healthcare models. His work includes pioneering Australia’s first Paramedic Practitioner Program with Ambulance Victoria and Safer Care Victoria. As a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, he emphasizes curriculum development and professional development for healthcare educators.
His research focuses on health services research, alternative care pathways, and community paramedicine, aiming to improve access for underserved populations. Key projects include the Paramedic Practitioner Program, co-design education initiatives with healthcare consumers, and evidence reviews for community paramedicine frameworks.
