Brendan Mattingly, Ph.D., is an Associate Teaching Professor and Program Director at the University of Kansas within the School of Professional Studies. With over a decade of experience at KU, he specializes in molecular and cellular biology, genetics, and developmental biology. His roles focus on teaching, mentoring undergraduate students (particularly transfer and non-traditional learners), and sponsoring undergraduate research programs.

Dr. Mattingly’s research explores cellular trafficking mechanisms, particularly in Caenorhabditis elegans tubulogenesis and apical surface maintenance. His work has been supported by grants such as the 2022 Genentech Innovation Fund (as co-PI) and the 2022 JoCo ARP fund.
Notable achievements include the Bob and Kathie Taylor Teaching Excellence award. He actively participates in teaching-focused initiatives like KU’s Center for Teaching Excellence, HHMI/Yale Summer Institutes on Scientific Teaching, and the Midwest/Great Plains Regional PULSE network.
