Brenda Temple

Brenda Temple is an Associate Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine, affiliated with the Departments of Biochemistry & Biophysics and Pharmacology. She serves as the Director of the RLJ Structural Bioinformatics Core, providing computational expertise in structural biology to support interdisciplinary research.

Her research interests focus on structural bioinformatics, molecular dynamics, and homology modeling, enabling collaborative studies in histone modifications, RNA processing, viral oncogenesis, and chromatin biology. She supports experimental studies through computational modeling, molecular docking, and drug design.

The RLJ Structural Bioinformatics Core, under her leadership, offers access to advanced computational tools like PyMOL, AMBER, and AlphaFold. Collaborations span diverse labs studying epigenetics, neurodegenerative diseases, cell cycle regulation, and viral pathogenesis, with core resources funded by the NIH grant P30CA016086.
