Dr. Branimir Šafran is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Wood Technology, Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology, University of Zagreb. His research focuses on biomass utilization, thermal treatments of wood, and biofuel production. He holds a PhD and teaches courses like 'Biomass and Solid Wood Biofuels Production' in Croatian, English, and German. He is affiliated with several institutes including the Institute of Wood Science and the Institute for Materials Technology.
Professional experience spans roles at the University since 2009 and industry work at Kircek d.o.o. (2007–2009). His scientific interests include wood pellet production optimization, analysis of raw material quality, and thermal pre-treatment methods. Consultation hours are Tuesdays 10:00–12:00 in room 118, pavilion IV.
Key research themes include improving biomass-derived biofuel quality, mechanical and thermal properties of wood, and sustainable energy solutions. His work bridges forestry, material science, and energy systems, with a focus on Croatia's biomass potential for renewable energy transition.
