Brandt van der Gaast

Brandt van der Gaast is an Assistant Professor in Theoretical Philosophy at the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies, Utrecht University. He previously taught at the University of Twente (philosophy of technology), Auburn University (ethics), and Smith College/UMass Amherst. His research focuses on representation theory (internalism/externalism debates), philosophy of language, and ethical aggregation. He holds a PhD from UMass Amherst (2014) under Jonathan Schaffer, defending Russellian descriptivism.
