Brandon Warmke is currently an Associate Professor of Philosophy at Bowling Green State University (BGSU), part of the College of Arts and Sciences. Starting Fall 2025, he will assume an Associate Professor position in Humanities at the Hamilton School for Classical and Civic Education, University of Florida. His research focuses on moral responsibility, forgiveness, free expression, and public discourse, with interdisciplinary engagement in moral psychology and political philosophy. He co-authored Grandstanding: The Use and Abuse of Moral Talk (2020) and Why It’s OK to Mind Your Own Business (2023), and edited Forgiveness and Its Moral Dimensions (2021). Warmke has been a visiting fellow at the University of Colorado, Boulder (2023–2024), and his work has been featured in major publications like The Atlantic, New York Times Magazine, and Scientific American.
Education: Ph.D. in Philosophy (University of Arizona, 2014), M.A. in Philosophy (Northern Illinois University, 2006), B.A. (Moody Bible Institute, 2002).
Research Interests: Warmke investigates how moral discourse shapes public life, including studies on moral grandstanding, forgiveness mechanisms, and the ethics of free expression. His work bridges philosophy with social psychology and political science, offering insights into polarized discourse and virtue signaling.
Media and Outreach: Collaborations with Justin Tosi have produced media commentary for CNN, Aeon, and MarketWatch. He frequently discusses moral psychology topics on podcasts and academic panels, emphasizing practical implications of philosophical research.
Current Projects: Developing Conservatism: The Basics (Routledge), exploring pluralist conservative thought. Teaches courses in philosophy, politics, economics, and law at Hamilton School starting 2025.
