Brandon Blankenship is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Criminal Justice at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), affiliated with the College of Arts and Sciences. He serves as UAB Pre-Law Director and LSAC Designated Pre-Law Advisor. His research focuses on restorative justice leadership, jurisprudence, and ethical dimensions of law, particularly exploring linguistic biases in legal terminology through his 'Bad Boy Bias' project. He teaches courses like Criminal Justice Ethics, Judicial Process in America, and The Bill of Rights. Blankenship holds a BA in Political Science from UAB and a JD from Faulkner University's Thomas Goode Jones School of Law.
Before joining UAB in 2017, he practiced law specializing in multi-plaintiff litigation, including the TransUnion Privacy Litigation, while dedicating significant time to pro bono work in death penalty cases. He co-created the Journey to Attorney Pre-Law Camp for high school students, emphasizing pre-professional competencies and civic problem-solving.
