Brahim Mustapha is a Researcher at Argonne National Laboratory's Physics Division, where he has worked since 2000 (initially as a postdoctoral appointee) and became staff in 2003. He earned his PhD in Nuclear Physics from the University of Paris at Orsay, France, in 1999.
His primary research interests include:
- Accelerator Physics
- Particle Accelerators
- Heavy-Ion Linacs
- Beam Dynamics
- AI for Accelerator Operations
- Accelerator Design
Mustapha has made significant contributions to major accelerator projects including the ATLAS heavy-ion linac facility upgrades (serving as technical director for the ongoing ATLAS Multi-User Upgrade), Project-X/PIP-II at Fermilab, FRIB at Michigan State University, and the Electron Ion Collider. He currently leads the development of AI-ML tools to optimize ATLAS accelerator operations.
He collaborates extensively within Argonne's Physics Division accelerator physics group and across national/international facilities, driving innovation in proton and heavy-ion linear accelerator design, simulation, construction, and commissioning.
