Bradley Lehman is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Northeastern University, affiliated with the College of Engineering. He holds a PhD from Georgia Institute of Technology (1992) and has been at Northeastern since 1995. His research focuses on power electronics, control systems, and renewable energy, with emphasis on DC-DC converters, fault detection in solar systems, and high-frequency converters.
Dr. Lehman’s educational background includes a B.E.E. from Georgia Tech (1987), M.S.E.E. from University of Illinois (1988), and PhD from Georgia Tech (1992). He previously held positions at Mississippi State University and was an NSF Presidential Faculty Fellow. His research group merges fundamental science with applications in high-performance power systems.
His work spans power electronics, motion control, and analog circuits, with recent studies on arc fault protection, solar energy systems, and converter design. Key achievements include developing fault-tolerant systems and improving PV inverter efficiency.
Honors include IEEE Fellow, Modeling and Control Technical Achievement Award, and National Science Foundation Young Investigator Award. He has supervised over 30 graduate students, emphasizing diversity and underrepresented groups. Current projects include ARPA-E-funded universal converter design and S-STEM initiatives for equitable education access.
Labs and collaborations involve the Power Electronics Research Group, focusing on renewable energy systems and high-frequency converters. His leadership includes editorial roles at IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics and contributions to industry standards.
