Dr. John G. Hayes is a Senior Lecturer in Electrical & Electronic Engineering at University College Cork (UCC), Ireland. He specializes in electric vehicles, energy systems, and power electronics. With a PhD from UCC (1998), he has over two decades of academic and industry experience, including roles at General Motors and Power One Inc. His current research focuses on power electronics, magnetics, and renewable energy applications, particularly in automotive and industrial contexts. Hayes directs UCC's Power Electronics Research Laboratory (PERL), collaborating with global firms like Analog Devices and General Motors. He authored a leading textbook on electric powertrains, published by Wiley & Sons and translated into Chinese. Hayes' work has been recognized with the William M. Portnoy Award for Best Paper (2011) at IEEE ECCE.
