Bradley Birzer is a Professor of History at Hillsdale College, where he has taught since 1999. Dedicated to the Western intellectual tradition, his work emphasizes culture, literature, and the arts. He holds a B.A. from the University of Notre Dame (1990) and a Ph.D. from Indiana University (1998).
His research focuses on American conservative thought, early American history, and literary analysis. Notable publications include Russell Kirk: American Conservative (2015), American Cicero: Charles Carroll of Carrollton (2010), and analyses of J.R.R. Tolkien and Christopher Dawson. He is a Fellow at the Reagan Presidential Library and the McConnell Center, University of Louisville, and served as a Visiting Scholar of Conservative Thought at CU-Boulder (2014–2015).
Birzer champions classical education, advocating for the integration of the Western canon into teaching. Beyond academia, he enjoys reading, hiking, cooking, and family life. He co-founded The Imaginative Conservative, a platform promoting traditionalist thought.
