University of Colorado, Denverمعرفی
Dr. Bradford Smith is an Assistant Professor at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, with joint appointments in the Department of Pediatric Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine and the Department of Bioengineering. He holds a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Tulane University (2011) and has a background in pulmonary bioengineering from the University of Vermont fellowship.
- Education:
- BSE, Tulane University (2003)
- MS, Tulane University (2007)
- PhD, Tulane University (2011)
His research focuses on quantifying microscale fluid-mechanical forces in ventilator-induced lung injury (VILI) to develop patient-specific lung-protective ventilation strategies. Key areas include:
- Alveolar micromechanics in ARDS
- Dynamic pressure prediction in VILI
- Mechanical ventilation optimization
- Developmental lung disease (dysanapsis)
- Nanomedicine for inflammation regulation
Publication Trends: Recent work (2023–2025) integrates machine learning for ventilator dyssynchrony detection, network theory to model lung injury progression, and nano-miRNA therapies for acute lung injury. Studies explore two-hit injury models, vitamin D interventions, and computational preterm infant simulations.
His interdisciplinary approach bridges computational physiology, biomedical engineering, and neonatal pulmonology to address critical challenges in respiratory care.
