معرفی
Assistant Professor Boris Najdovski is a soil and forest scientist at the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, Faculty of Forestry, Department of Silviculture. Since 2020 he has been teaching pedology, plant nutrition, reclamation of degraded forests and high-mountain ecosystems while conducting pedological analyses in the faculty laboratory.
Education:
- B.Sc. in Forestry – Faculty of Forestry, Skopje (2012)
- M.Sc. in Forestry Sciences – “Analysis of the Change of Mountain Pastures in the Upper Bregalnica Region” (2016)
- Ph.D. candidate – Faculty of Agriculture, University of Novi Sad, Serbia (since 2017)
Research Interests:
Boris Najdovski’s research centres on understanding soils as natural-historical bodies and their interplay with vegetation. His work integrates classical pedology with modern geomatics to quantify soil organic matter, nutrient cycling and carbon sequestration potentials in forest and high-mountain ecosystems.
By combining laboratory analyses with field-based vegetation surveys he explores how land-use change and succession influence soil biological activity and plant community dynamics, providing evidence for sustainable management and restoration of degraded forest and pasture lands.
Recent Publications – Key Themes:
Across his latest publications he investigates soil microbial activity under montane oak forests, prioritises plant conservation strategies in transboundary regions, and documents vegetation succession on abandoned mountain pastures—highlighting a consistent focus on soil–vegetation feedbacks and sustainable land management in the Balkans.
Laboratory & Teaching Contributions:
He manages routine and specialised pedological analyses in the faculty’s soil laboratory, supporting both instructional and applied projects. His teaching portfolio spans foundational pedology, plant nutrition, reclamation techniques and high-altitude ecosystem management.
