Boris Khusid

Boris Khusid is a Professor in the Department of Chemical & Materials Engineering at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). He specializes in colloidal science, materials engineering, and microgravity physics. His research explores phase transitions in colloids, nanotechnology applications, environmental engineering, and thermal systems under low-gravity conditions. Khusid obtained his Ph.D. in Thermal Sciences from the Byelorussian Academy of Sciences (1975) and M.S. from Byelorussian State University (1972). He has authored over 150 publications and holds multiple patents in filtration, microfluidics, and colloidal engineering.

Research interests include microgravity-driven colloidal crystallization, PFAS removal via membrane filtration, and electric-field-driven material assembly. His work combines computational modeling with experimental studies, notably using NASA's ISS platforms for microgravity experiments. Recent studies focus on optimizing reverse osmosis processes, magnetic feed water treatment, and self-propelled colloids for soft matter systems.
