Barbara Elisabeth Borg is a Professor of Classical Archaeology at the Scuola Normale Superiore since 2022. Previously, she held professorial roles at the University of Exeter (2004-2022) and Heidelberg University (1993-2004). Her research focuses on Roman topography, burial customs, portraiture, and intercultural relationships in the ancient world, with expertise in geo-archaeology and visual-textual interactions.

- Awards: ERC Advanced Grant (2022), Hugh Last Fellow (2013), Spring Getty Scholar (2011).

Her methodological approach integrates image analysis, topographical studies, and interdisciplinary frameworks to explore urban structures and cultural dynamics in imperial Rome. She contributes to institutional committees, including the Research Excellence Framework (2011-2014), and maintains affiliations with the German Archaeological Institute and the Society for the Promotion of Roman Studies.
