Dr. Bonnie Swan serves as the Director of the Program Evaluation and Educational Research Group (PEER) at the University of Central Florida (UCF) within the College of Community Innovation and Education. Since 2006, she has led PEER in conducting contract evaluations and research for UCF and external institutions. She holds a PhD in Education from UCF and is recognized nationally for her expertise in program evaluation and applied social research. Dr. Swan has held leadership roles including President of the National Association of Assessment Administrators (2014–15), Board Member/Co-Chair of the Southeast Evaluation Association (2013–current), and President of the Florida Educational Research Association (2011–12).
Her research focuses on program evaluation methodologies, applied social research in educational contexts, and assessment strategies to improve educational outcomes. She teaches graduate-level evaluation courses and actively contributes to academic committees to enhance educational practices. Dr. Swan’s service extends to professional organizations such as the American Evaluation Association and the National Council on Measurement in Education.
In 2015, she received the FERA Educational Researcher of the Year award for her impactful contributions. She leads the PEER team, which supports evidence-based decision-making through rigorous evaluations. Her work bridges academic research and practical applications to strengthen education systems locally and nationally.
