Bonnie Epstein is a part-time Lecturer in the School of History, Philosophy, and Social Sciences at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). She holds a BA in Geology/Biology from Brown University and a PhD in Geological Oceanography from the University of Rhode Island. Her work bridges science, art, and education, focusing on sustainability and interdisciplinary approaches to problem-solving.

Epstein's research interests center on sustainability challenges like climate change and water scarcity, alongside innovative methods to integrate art and science education. As former director of the New England Aquarium’s Newport Exploration Center, she developed exhibits such as the NSF-funded 'Amazing Jellies' project, which highlighted jellyfish as environmental indicators. She also founded and led the Rhode Island Museum of Science and Art (RIMOSA), emphasizing hands-on STEAM experiences. Currently, she teaches solution-based science courses at RISD and serves on the RISD Initiative for Sustainability and the Environment (RISE).
