Bokyung Kim is an Associate Professor of Public Relations at Rowan University's Ric Edelman College of Communication & Creative Arts. She serves as Graduate Coordinator for the MA in Strategic Communication Program. Her research focuses on corporate communication, organizational transparency, social media strategy, crisis communication, and reputation management.
Dr. Kim holds a Ph.D. from the University of Missouri's School of Journalism and an M.A. from Michigan State University. Her work has been published in 18+ leading journals including Public Relations Review and Frontiers in Psychology. She has presented at major conferences like ICA and AEJMC, earning awards such as the 2010 PRSA Health Academy Top Paper Award.
Her recent research explores pandemic communication, health disparities, and sustainability reporting. Key findings include how socioeconomic factors predict vaccination uptake and how Fortune 500 companies use Instagram narratives to engage audiences. She also examines crisis response strategies' impact on institutional trust during public health emergencies.
Awards include the Communication Arts & Sciences Summer Dean’s Fellowship from Michigan State University. Her work bridges theoretical frameworks like contingency theory with applied areas like health communication and social media engagement.
