Bogdan Ocieszak

Professor Bogdan Ocieszak is a distinguished clarinetist and educator at the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk, Poland. He serves as a full professor in the Instrumental Faculty, having joined the institution in 1989. His academic leadership roles include Vice-Dean of the Instrumental Faculty and membership in the University Senate. Ocieszak’s teaching focuses on clarinet and bass clarinet performance, producing graduates who perform in leading orchestras globally.

His artistic work emphasizes the basset horn, culminating in the book The Basset Horn – Mozart's Forgotten Instrument and the album Clarinet Has Many Names. He actively performs with the Baltic Philharmonic Orchestra and leads masterclasses internationally. Ocieszak directs the Gdańsk International Brass Instruments Competition, attracting global participation.

As a scholar, he lectures on historical instrument performance and has formed the Basset Horn Trio. His career bridges pedagogy, performance, and musicological research, contributing significantly to the revival of underappreciated instruments.
