Bobbi Gentry is an Associate Professor of Political Science at Bridgewater College, where she has served since 2014, and an Affiliated Scholar at Virginia Commonwealth University's Center for Human Security. Her academic work focuses on innovative pedagogical approaches to enhance student engagement through classroom simulations, policy projects, and research initiatives.
Her educational background includes dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Political Science and Psychology from Winthrop University, followed by a Master of Philosophy and Ph.D. in Political Science from the City University of New York with emphasis in political psychology.
Gentry's research centers on youth voting behavior and political identity development, examining how inspirational leaders and independent identity formation influence young voters. As a prominent scholar of teaching and learning, she investigates best practices for political science internships, curriculum development, and the formation of political identity among youth with intersecting social identities. Her book Why Youth Vote: Identity, Inspirational Leaders, and Independence (Springer, 2018) and co-edited volume Internships in Political Science (APSA, 2021) represent significant contributions to these fields.
