Dr. Bob Muir is a Senior Lecturer in Sport Coaching at Leeds Beckett University's Carnegie School of Sport. He has led the development of academic programs such as the Football Association Postgraduate Diploma in Coach Development and the BSc (Hons) Sport Coaching degree, including a two-year accelerated pilot program for HEFCE. His career merges academic leadership with extensive applied coaching experience, including over 20 years as a senior men’s basketball coach with Leeds Carnegie and Teesside Mohawks, winning multiple national titles.

Bob specializes in enhancing coach education through situated learning strategies. His research explores audio/video feedback as a tool for reflective practice, iterative cycles of dialogue, and collaboration between coaches and developers. He has worked with elite organizations like the British Sailing Team, Football Association, and English Institute of Sport to design professional development programs.
Current teaching includes modules on Sense-making in professional practice and Coach Learning & Development for the FA PG Diploma and MSc Sport Coaching. He supervises two PhD candidates in coach education.
