Dr. Bo Zhang is an Affiliate Assistant Professor in Biostatistics at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (Fred Hutch), holding concurrent roles in the Public Health Sciences Division and Vaccine and Infectious Disease Division. He specializes in causal inference methods for clinical trials and observational studies, with applications in health sciences. Dr. Zhang earned his Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of Pennsylvania (2022) and a B.S. in Mathematics from Harvey Mudd College (2017).
His research focuses on integrating historical data into experimental designs, improving clinical outcomes through statistical methods such as randomization inference and instrumental variables. Applications span cardiology, pediatric secondhand smoke analysis, and malaria epidemiology. He is a member of the Translational Data Science Integrated Research Center (TDS IRC) at Fred Hutch, advancing interdisciplinary data science initiatives.
Recent work emphasizes synthesizing evidence from clinical trials and real-world observational data, particularly leveraging Medicare/Medicaid claims and disease registries. His methodological contributions include advancements in precision medicine, statistical matching, and nanoparticle-based electrochemical sensing technologies for diagnostic applications.
