Blanaid Clarke is the McCann FitzGerald Chair in Corporate Law at Trinity College Dublin, where she lectures on corporate governance, contract law, and company law. She leads the School's Corporate Law, Governance and Capital Markets Research Group and directs the LLM programmes. Her research focuses on governance (corporate, fund, and central bank), financial services law, securities law, and takeover law. She contributes to global regulatory bodies like the OECD Corporate Governance Committee and ESMA's Shareholder Transactions Working Group. Clarke holds key roles in Irish financial oversight, including Deputy Chairman of the Irish Banking Culture Board and membership in the Irish Takeover Panel and Institute of Bankers' Investment Fund Director Institute. Previously, she served on the IMF's Safeguards Assessments Panel and the Irish Central Bank Commission.
Her professional roles extend to academic leadership as a Vice President of the European Banking Institute's Academic Board and Deputy Chair of the Royal Irish Academy's Ethics Committee. She advises on EU company law through the European Model Company Act Group and collaborates with the University of Oslo's Sustainability Law Research Group.
Research interests include accountability frameworks, ESG integration, and regulatory responses to financial crises. Recent publications address individual accountability in banking, EU governance models, and the role of central banks. Clarke engages widely through editorial roles for legal journals and contributes to shaping global corporate governance norms.
