Blakely Fox Fender is a Professor of Economics and holds the J. Armistead Brown Chair of Business Administration at Millsaps College. He serves as Associate Dean of the Else School of Management, overseeing strategic planning, curriculum development, and institutional assessment. His roles also include directing MBA and Executive MBA programs, and leading the Millsaps College Business Advantage Program for Professionals. He teaches econometrics, managerial analysis, and labor economics, emphasizing real-world applications through ELSEWORKS, an entrepreneurial program.
Education: B.A. in Economics (Millsaps College, Summa Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa), M.S. and Ph.D. in Economics (University of Texas at Austin).
Research focuses on labor economics, applied microeconomics, and econometrics. Recent publications address business education innovation, economic damage assessments, and the interplay between teaching and research in academia. His work emphasizes pragmatic, evidence-based approaches.
