Blaise Filanowski is a Lecturer at the Department of Journalism and Social Communication within the Faculty of Philology at the University of Lodz. His academic work intersects with cultural practice through research on urban transformation processes, social communication, and art-science relations.
His research interests focus on urban studies, examining how artistic events engage stakeholders in urban transformation processes and how cultural institutions contribute to urban regeneration. He explores immersive communication and place design through site-specific artistic activities, creative placemaking, and visual communication (photography), with particular attention to innovative organizational culture in adapting to social change.
His recent scholarly output demonstrates a strong focus on post-industrial urban transformation, particularly through his 2023 monograph analyzing Łódź's cultural evolution since 1989. His work bridges academic research with practical cultural programming.

Filanowski actively contributes to academic mentoring as the ECTS Coordinator for the Journalism, Media and Social Communication program. His current research is supported by multiple grants including the Science Hub project (NAWA, 2024-2026) and the Performative Research in the Face of Civilization Challenges project (2024-2027).
He is a key member of the Interdisciplinary Center for Urban Studies at the University of Lodz, which operates as the Centre for City Futures UNIC, and serves on the Program Council of the International Urban Regeneration Congress.
