Björn Schiffbauer

Prof. Dr. Björn Schiffbauer holds the Chair of Public Law, European and International Law at the Faculty of Law, University of Rostock since December 2022. His research spans international legal theory, EU constitutional dynamics, and sports law intersections with transnational governance.

Research Interests focus on legal pluralism across multiple normative spheres:

• Formal Constitutional Theory and its application to international legal order foundations
• EU external action and security policy within international law frameworks
• Sports associations as transnational power structures balancing private autonomy and quasi-state authority
• Security law and intelligence frameworks with cross-border implications
