His research interests center around legal and constitutional developments in China, particularly focusing on judicial reforms, human rights compliance, and migration governance. The majority of his publications examine authoritarian legal systems, judicial transparency, and cross-border legal integration through frameworks like the Belt and Road Initiative. Key methodologies include data-driven analysis of court decisions and comparative treaty studies.
Prof. Ahl's work intersects with broader debates on global constitutionalism and Chinese legal adaptation in international contexts. His projects often analyze Party-state legal dynamics, migration policy reforms, and data protection mechanisms in Chinese governance.
