Björn Honnef is affiliated with the Department of Philosophy at the University of Bielefeld since 2019, focusing on philosophy didactics and historical studies of metaphors in 18th-19th century literature and philosophy. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in German and Philosophy (2010), a Master of Education in Educational Science and German Studies (2012), and completed teacher training (2014). Since 2023, he serves as acting head of philosophy at the ZfsL Minden and teaches at Rahden Gymnasium. His doctoral research, under Prof. Dr. Schmitz-Emans, explores 'Cave Entrances: The Dialectical History of Motifs at the Boundary of Surface and Depth between Romanticism and Realism.'
Research interests include moral justification, philosophical dilemmas, and integrating literary analysis into educational contexts. He actively engages in philosophy didactics through workshops at Bielefeld’s annual conferences (e.g., 2021–2024), addressing topics like argumentation training and philosophical problem-solving in education.
A member of the Schopenhauer Society, ETA Hoffmann Society, and Wilhelm Raabe Society, Honnef has delivered lectures on Kant’s legal theory and organized workshops on themes like guilt, punishment, and solidarity in philosophy classes. His work bridges historical philosophical analysis with contemporary educational practices.
