Biyun Zhu is a Lecturer in Cultural Policy & Governance at the University of Manchester’s Department of Art History and Cultural Practices. She holds a PhD from The Ohio State University, an M.A. from King’s College London, and a B.A. from the University of International Business and Economics. Her research focuses on cultural and educational organizations as strategic components of foreign policy, emphasizing comparative studies between nations. Key areas include cultural diplomacy, soft power, and the role of creative industries in international relations.
Dr. Zhu has collaborated with institutions like UNESCO, the United Nations, and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. She leads projects such as the £2,989.72-funded initiative integrating cultural diplomacy into sustainability agendas. Her editorial roles include guest editing The Journal of Arts Management, Law, and Society (2024–2025). Recent work explores transnational cultural diplomacy frameworks and the Global South’s influence on UNESCO policies.
