Bish Sen is an Associate Professor in the Media Studies department within the School of Journalism and Communication (SOJC) at the University of Oregon, where he has taught since 2004 with additional affiliations in Asian Studies programs. His academic work bridges journalism, communication theory, and cultural studies with a focus on transnational media phenomena.
His educational background includes:
- PhD from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
- MA from The Ohio State University
- BA from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata, India
Sen's research explores mass communications through the lens of globalization and new media, particularly examining Indian television culture and digital transformations. He is the author of "Of the People: Essays on Indian Popular Culture" and currently co-editing "50 years of Indian Television: Contemporary Issues" while developing a monograph on digital culture in India, demonstrating sustained scholarly engagement with postcolonial media landscapes.
Prior academic service includes advising the Harpur Academic Review at SUNY Binghamton and participating in university diversity initiatives, reflecting his commitment to inclusive educational environments.
