Birol YILDIRIM is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Basic Islamic Sciences at Kastamonu University's Faculty of Theology, where he has been working full-time since 2016. His academic career focuses on the intersection of Islamic mysticism, Turkish Islamic literature, and religious practices in Anatolia and the Caucasus regions. He has established himself as a prominent scholar in Sufi studies with particular expertise in the Nakshibendi order and Anatolian Sufi traditions.
His educational background includes a PhD in Sufism from Atatürk University (2004-2016), a Master's degree in Fundamental Islamic Sciences from Yüzüncü Yıl University (2000-2003), and a BA in Theology from Atatürk University (1994-2000).
