Prof. Dr. Abdulcebbar KAVAK is a distinguished academic specializing in Islamic Studies and Sufism, currently serving as Professor and Dean at Karabük University's Faculty of Islamic Sciences. He previously held academic positions at Ağrı İbrahim Çeçen University where he served as Associate Professor and Department Chair in the Department of Basic Islamic Sciences. His academic career spans over a decade with significant administrative leadership roles including Dean, Deputy Dean, and Department Chair positions.

Prof. KAVAK's research focuses primarily on Mysticism and Sufism, with particular emphasis on Naqshbandi Order and Halidiyya tradition. His scholarly work explores the historical development of Sufi orders in Anatolia and Iraq, examining their social, cultural, and religious impacts. He has conducted extensive research on Kurdish Islamic literature, Sufi psychology, and the relationship between Kalam (Islamic theology) and Tasavvuf (Sufism).
His recent publications (2024-2025) demonstrate a continued focus on Eastern Islamic scholars, particularly through his contributions to the "Şark Uleması" series where he authored numerous biographical chapters on historical Islamic figures. His research spans diverse subfields including Turkish language influence in Sufi circles, Kurdish religious traditions, and the historical development of Sufi orders across Western Asia.
Prof. KAVAK has successfully supervised 12 graduate students to completion, including both Master's and Doctoral candidates, with thesis topics focusing on various aspects of Sufism, Islamic law, and Kurdish Islamic literature. He has led multiple research projects including cataloging Turkish manuscripts in the Şam Ez-Zahiriyah Library and archiving manuscripts at the Iraq University Library.
