Bilal KIRKICI

Prof. Dr. Bilal KIRKICI is a faculty member at the Middle East Technical University (METU), Faculty of Education, Department of Foreign Language Education. His academic career spans institutions including Başkent University, Oxford University's Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies, and the University of Essex. He holds a PhD in English Language Teaching (2005) and MA degrees in Applied Linguistics (2002) and English Language Teaching (2000) from METU and the University of Essex, respectively.

His research focuses on

• Morphological and syntactic processing in multilingual individuals
• Experimental psycholinguistic methods
• Heritage language acquisition and processing
• Neurocognitive aspects of language in clinical populations (e.g., OCD, Schizophrenia)
• Open science initiatives

He collaborates internationally on projects like the "Experimental Studies on German-Turkish Multilingualism" with the Potsdam Research Institute for Multilingualism (PRIM) and the Dyslang project on dyslexia in multilingual contexts.

Scientific awards include the British Academy Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship. His work involves interdisciplinary teams, advanced methodologies (eye tracking, EEG), and grants from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and TÜBİTAK. He also trains researchers in psycholinguistic experimental techniques.
