معرفی
Christel Bidet-Ildei is Full Professor at the Faculty of Sports Sciences, University of Poitiers, and Director of the Center for Research on Cognition and Learning (CeRCA). She simultaneously serves as Deputy Director of CeRCA since 2022, leads interdisciplinary collaborations across France, Germany, and Japan, and has previously managed the EXSECO research team and the Master programme in Rehabilitation, Disability and Motor Performance Engineering (IRHPM).
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Science and Technology of Physical and Sports Activities (STAPS) – motor and psychological development of the child, data analysis
- Master STAPS: Rehabilitation, Disability and Motor Performance Engineering (IRHPM) – sensory and cognitive impairments, cognition, motor skills, relearning
- Master’s in Psychology: "Cognitive and Language Disorders" – use of action as a rehabilitation technique for cognitive disorders
Research Interests
Her work sits at the intersection of cognitive psychology, motor control, and language processing. Using point-light displays and motion-capture technologies, she investigates how observing biological motion influences memory, language, and motor learning across the lifespan. A particular focus is placed on action-semantic links, embodied cognition, and rehabilitation protocols for populations with Parkinson’s disease, autism spectrum disorders, post-surgical orthopedic patients, and aphasia.
Publications & Trends
Over the past three years her output has intensified around clinical applications of action observation. Studies range from randomized controlled trials testing point-light intervention after total-knee arthroplasty to systematic meta-analyses demonstrating the efficacy of action observation in speech and language rehabilitation. A complementary line explores how finger kinematics scaffold numerical meaning acquisition in kindergarten, highlighting developmental perspectives on embodied numeracy.
Scientific Awards & Recognition
While no specific medals or prizes are listed, her sustained funding record, invited symposia at ACAPS, ESCOP, and multiple French national congresses, alongside international collaborations (Tübingen, Tokyo, Lille, Geneva), underscore strong peer recognition.
Doctoral Supervision & Grants
- Sophie-Anne Beauprez (2015-2018, ministerial grant) – sensorimotor contributions to language processing
- Aurélie Benchekri (2020-ongoing, regional project) – motor disorders in autism (biomechanical + cognitive approach)
- Evan Launay (2020-ongoing, salaried) – written production in adult autism
- Victor Francisco (2021-ongoing, unfunded) – action observation in rehabilitation and motor performance
Labs & Teams
She directs the PLAViMoP platform (Point-Light Action Visualization and Modification Platform), a continuously updated 3-D point-light database serving the international research community. She founded and coordinated the “embodied cognition” research group within CeRCA from 2013-2021 and remains instrumental in shaping the laboratory’s scientific policy and valorisation strategy.
