Bhoomi Thakore

Bhoomi Thakore is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Connecticut. She previously held positions at Northwestern University, Elmhurst College, and the University of Central Florida.

• Education: PhD in Sociology from Loyola University Chicago

Research Interests: Focus on social inequalities, intersectionality, media studies, and critical pedagogy. Her work examines racial representation in media and audience perceptions of cultural identities.

Publications: Authored and co-edited two influential books analyzing South Asian media representation and racial contention in modern U.S. media.

Professional Roles: Currently serves as Book Review Editor for Sociological Inquiry and holds leadership positions in the American Sociological Association (ASA) and Society for the Study of Social Problems (SSSP). Additionally, she contributes to editorial boards of Social Currents and Humanity and Society.
